Mission Statement

Maravilla Foundation is a non-profit community based organization dedicated to providing comprehensive, multi-purpose no -cost social services to low income people, in order to improve their quality of life, help them become self-sufficient citizens and family providers, and break the cycle of poverty in communities most in need. We will focus our efforts on the economically disadvantaged populations of greater Los Angeles County, with an emphasis on unincorporated East Los Angeles. We will seek out, develop, and implement innovative methods to achieve these goals, while remaining true to the core belief that drives this organization… that our society has a fundamental responsibility to assist those most in need.

A Message from the President and CEO

Dear Friend,

Welcome to the Maravilla Foundation. We hope you will take this

opportunity to learn about this organization and the many no-cost

social service programs we provide.

Maravilla Foundation was founded in 1967 to address the growing,

unattended needs of the low income people of East Los Angeles. In

our 42 years of service, we have not wavered from this goal. Whether

through our housing and energy assistance programs, teen employment,

youth intervention programs, or senior citizen nutrition, Maravilla has

become extremely effective in delivering a range of services to a broad

 spectrum of people.

East Los Angeles and its people remain the primary target area of our

work. But as populations have grown and changed with time, so has our agency, and we now service areas throughout Los Angeles County and beyond, giving Maravilla Foundation the deserved reputation as one of the most effective nonprofit community based organizations in California.

Proud of our past achievements, but aware of the work left undone, we face the future with the resolve to rededicate ourselves to our goals of building stronger communities and improving the quality of life for thousands of working families.

In Spanish, Maravilla means “that which works wonders”. For all of us who work here, those aren’t just words. That is a promise which we work every day to live up to, and one which we intend to keep.
